AONW Co-founder Perspective
By Diana Larsen
As one of the three founders of Agile Open Northwest (along with Rebecca Wires-Brock and Charlie Poole) in 2007, I’ve been delighted to see how the annual AONW event has become a. major contributor to new ideas in agile practice over the past 17 years. Participants have come from around the Pacific NW region, up and down the west coast, and even further away; both those who want to bring their new experiences to share and those who want to learn about them. And, of course, those who want to do both!
As the conversation swirls around “Agile is dead!” “Dark agile” “Agile Industrial Complex” and so on, my sense is that we only need to recognize that Agile has won! Now it’s time to discover what’s next. I fully expect AONW 2025 (and beyond) will continue to be a source of new ideas. And, the session conversations and experiments next March will explore what’s coming next to build our community and continue great practices for software development excellence and other aligned efforts. Such as agency work, Human Resources, organizational systems, leadership, and in all the areas of the workplace where agile has opened doors to new ways of thinking about complex work.
I hope to see you (and your new perspectives) there!
